The Mass of Christian Burial for John M. Roll, 86, of Mott, ND will be 10:30am Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. Fr. Todd Kreitinger will officiate with burial in Sunnyslope Cemetery at Mott.


Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Mott followed by a Rosary/Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.


Special music will be provided by Pat Schwartz, organist. Serving as casketbearers are Timothy Roones, Rick, Leroy and Paul Sandstrom, Robert Roll, Rocklyn Roll, and all nephews.


John M. Roll was born September 12, 1920 on the farm homestead 8 ½ miles north of Burt, North Dakota. He was the oldest of 14 children born to Mike and Rosa (Reichert) Roll. John attended a rural school and worked on the farm with his dad until September 1941. John was united in marriage to Harriet VanLishout and 7 children were born to this union, Marvin, Delmar, James, Carol, Patricia, Bonnie, and LaDonna. John and Harriet continued to farm in the Mott area. In 1950 they left the Mott area and moved to Forman, North Dakota where he farmed and worked for Melrose Manufacturing. In 1959, they moved to Cypress, California where he went into the furniture moving business and then worked as a diesel mechanic. In 1975, John retired and moved to Bull Head City, Arizona. In November of 2006, he moved to Mott where he entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Center.


John passed from this life on Friday, February 23, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center at the age of 86 years, 5 months, 11 days.


Surviving family members include his 2 sons, Marvin (Sharon) Roll, Anaheim, California; Delmar (Vicki) Roll, Heyburn, Idaho; 4 daughters, Carol (Olaf) Roones, Heyburn, Idaho; Patricia Sandstrom, Lisbon, North Dakota; Bonnie (John) Cardenas, Twin Falls, Idaho LaDonna (John) Hopkins,Walloon Lake, Michigan; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers and 4 sisters-in-law, William Winnifred Roll, El Dorado Springs, MO; Sebastian and Norita Roll, Mott, ND; Marie Roll, Dickinson, ND and Betty Roll, of Mott, ND; 7 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law, Eva and Innozent Zentner, Mott, ND; Ann Kuntz, Billings, MT; Barbara and Cornelius Kautzman, Ballentine, MT; Viola Dauenhauer, Billings, MT; Delores Lee and friend Duane Cregger, Hettinger, ND; Gladys Humeston and friend Willie Trieb, El Dorado Springs, MO; Sally and Marlin Schneider, Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son James, 1 great granddaughter, Janeen Ganahl; 3 brothers, Paul, Jerome, and Martin Roll, and 1 sister, Selma Roll.
