Service of Remembrance for John Molbert, 90, of Hettinger, ND will be Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Rev. Kathleen Dettmann will officaite and burial will follow at the Hettinger Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service at the Hettinger Lutheran Church on Thursday.


John Christian Molbert was born on June 25, 1924 to Martin and Karen (Stang) Molbert on the family farm north of Bucyrus. He graduated from Hettinger High School in 1942. June 19, 1949 he married the love of his life, Lila Hansen. They were blessed with three sons, Eugene, Rodney, and Perry. John farmed north of Reeder, raising cattle, milking cows and planting crops until they moved to Hettinger in 1978.

After moving to Hettinger John ran a small appliance repair business and maintained the cemetery in Hettinger for several years. John was an active community person. He served on numerous boards. John was a member of the Eagles and was secretary for many years. John & Lila ran the Eagles Club for several years as well.

Church was a very important part of John's life. He was a member of Wolf Butte, Our Saviors in Reeder, and Hettinger Lutheran Church.

John enjoyed time with grandkids, family and friends. Visiting was one of his gifts. He definitely had the gift of gab.

January 2, 2009 John moved to Western Horizons Care Center due to deteriorating health until his death on September 1, 2014. Thankful for sharing John's life are, his wife Lila, two sons, Eugene(Debbie) and Perry, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister Irene (Gene) Jacobsen, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by one son, Rodney, one great grandson, Dylan, his parents and two sisters.
