John A. Fiedler, age 85, passed away at the Mott Good Samaritan Nursing Center on August 8, 2008 at 6:45 p.m.
John was born June 22, 1923 in Mott, ND to Michael and Mathilda Fiedler. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Mott Lincoln High School. John was united in marriage to Ellen Sahr on December 3, 1942. The majority of their lived was spent farming southwest of Mott.
John served as judge for the City of Mott from 1968 to 1988, when the city and county decided to co-op. He enjoyed his role in this capacity and looked forward to each and every small-town case. There are many that have passed along their stories of his rulings.
John loved baseball, bowling, hunting, playing cards, and in his later years, golfing. He rolled a 300 game in bowling and scored a hole in one at the Mott Country Club.
Grateful for having shared his life are his three daughters and one son; Kathy and Mike Hale of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Karen Bailor of Shelton, Washington; Donna Gall and George Clapp of Naperville, Illinois; and John and Peggy Fiedler of Mott, North Dakota. He is also survived by one sister, Pauline (Bud) Ross of Mott, North Dakota, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his five brothers, Bill, Dan, Fred, Gus, and Jake; his two sisters, Emma and Elsie, and his wife, Ellen.
It was John's wish to be cremated and to have a private funeral service.
The family prefers memorials to the Mott Country Club.
