John Eggebo was born October 8, 1928 to Ole and Phoebe (Nelson) Eggebo at the family homestead, Glendo, SD, the 5th of six children. John attended the Glendo and Parker rural schools and Hettinger High School. At an early age he began farming with his father.

John was married to Mildred Thompson on Jan. 5, 1951 at the parental home of Andrew and Annie Thompson in Hettinger, ND. They began their life together farming and ranching in the Lodgepole, SD area and to this union, five children were born, Melvin, James, Karen, Cheryl and Carol.

John then worked for the City of Hettinger for ten years and also at Hillcrest Care Center for six years.

He will be remembered as a good neighbor, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was diagnosed with cancer in 1995 and retired in 1997.
