Jim grew up with his siblings near Lemmon, SD and attended various schools in the area.  In his early years Jim spent a great deal of time at Shriners Children Hospitals and had many operations through those hospitals and our Mother and Jim made many trips to Minneapolis. He attended Lemmon High School through the 11 th grade.  Jim extended his education at Denver Tech School for 1-1 1/2 years and then finished his education at Mitchell Technical Institute in the electrical field.  He went to work in the electrical field where he worked for a contractor building the electrical generating plant at Beulah, ND.  He moved back to the Lemmon area and worked for Stocks Electric and then worked for Dons Electric. Jim then worked as a Jack of All Trades and helped anyone who needed something done, whatever it was.  He was willing to lend anyone a hand.  Jim enjoyed woodworking, making signs to give away or sell.

Jim, when younger, enjoyed going scuba diving and found relaxation there.

Jim found the love of his life and spent 20 plus years with Laurie Schneider until she passed in March of 2020.

Jim became involved in the activities of the Lemmon community and was an active member of the Lions Club, Senior Center and City Council. One of his favorite activities was calling Bingo at the Senior Center.  He proudly served on the City Council.  He will be missed by many in the community and may he rest in peace.

Jim is survived by five sisters, Helen Schaible, Mott, ND, Sharon Vallance, Farmington Hills, MI, Nancy Lipkins, Thomson, GA, Judy Mason, Federal Way, WA and Sandra Radke, Wibaux, MT; three brothers, Roger and Barbara Lorenz, Lexington, OK, Richard and Karen Lorenz, Bismarck, ND, and Tony and Barbara Lorenz, Huron, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
