Jerry N. Poseley, age 79, of Bison, SD, passed away at his home on Monday, January 21, 2019.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Bison, SD. Rev. Florence Hoff will officiate with burial to follow in the Bison Cemetery.

Jerry Neil Poseley was born March 24, 1939 in Lemmon, South Dakota to Frank and Helen Poseley.  He lived his entire life in Bison.  He graduated from Bison High School in 1958.  While in high school he met and then married Patricia Sigman.  They have three children, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

He loved to work.  He was manager of Bison Grain Elevator for several years.  Then he went to work at Grand Electric in July of 1968 as an apprentice lineman and advanced to area supervisor.  He spent 35 years at Grand Electric and his favorite job was to run the digger truck.  He has been up and down every road and every trail in every type of weather in the entire area to keep the power on for all the farmers, ranchers and town of Bison.  After retiring from Grand, he went to work for the State Highway Department.  Driving the snow plow was fun for him.   He would participate in snowplow rodeos and won 2 ^nd prize in the state contest.  For numerous years, he helped a custom combiner every year with harvest.  He frequently would lend a hand to people around the area to help with harvest and any other work that needed to be done.  He would jump at the chance to drive any semi. He would give his shirt off his back if he were asked.

Hunting and fishing were his hobbies.  He always found time to play cards with the relatives.  His grandkids were a joy.  He made time to travel to Wyoming and Colorado, even Scotland, to see the grandkids.

Jerry is survived by two daughters:  Lori (Shane) Miller of Casper, WY, and Mary (Ron) Zimmermann of Lone Tree, CO: one son Jim (Suzanne) Poseley of Edinburgh, Scotland; six grandchildren: Kyle Miller of Lexington, KY, Kent (Yoshie Nakai) Miller of Lexington, KY, Bryn (Carter) Babb of Clemson, SC, Coy Zimmermann of Golden, CO, Ewan and Leah Poseley of Edinburgh, Scotland; one great granddaughter: Mei Miller of Lexington, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Pat, his parents Frank and Helen Poseley.  His sisters: Frankie (Mick) Almen, Jessie (Herb) Kolb, Patty Britton and brothers: Bill Poseley and Ronnie Poseley.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
