Ivalo Delores Sprecher was born on April 19, 1928, to Reinhart and Pauline (Baesler) Sprecher in Mott, Hettinger County, North Dakota. Her parent's home at the time was in Solon Township. Sometime after the year 1930, her family moved to Grant County, North Dakota where they farmed and lived in a small house on the farm of Gottlieb Baesler Sr. (The house, that eventually became the granary for the Gottlieb Baesler Jr. farm still stands in the same area to this day.)
When Ivalo was six years old, the family moved to Missoula, Montana where after a year's struggle to find work, her father was employed for nearly twenty years by the Northern Pacific Railroad. Ivalo grew to adulthood in Missoula, graduating from Missoula County High School (now known as Hellgate High School). During this time, Ivalo and her parents returned frequently to Grant and Hettinger Counties in North Dakota to visit their Baesler and Sprecher relatives. Her cousins fondly remember these good times.
While still in high school, Ivalo began working at the Missoula Mercantile now known as a store of famed historical significance. Here she remained employed until her family left Montana for Portland, Oregon where Portland Paper Box Company had hired her father. In Portland, Ivalo worked in the field of accounting for several companies until she was finally employed with Blue Cross/Medicare. Here she remained for the rest of her working career.
When Reinhart Sprecher passed away in 1987, Ivalo and her mother returned to New Leipzig where they soon re-established themselves as a distinctive part of the community. Here they both resided until the conclusion of their lives.
Following a formidable battle with cancer, Ivalo passed away at home on Tuesday, November 1 st at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her parents and many family members. She never married but is survived by several cousins and many friends.
Ivalo was witty and loved to engage in humorous banter with friends and family. She was well loved, and she will be missed by her friends and relatives in New Leipzig and throughout the country.
