Irene
Honeyman
Jul 8, 1936 — Nov 28, 2022
Irene Honeyman passed away peacefully at the Eventide Sheyenne Crossing in West Fargo, ND on November 28, 2022.
Irene Agatha Amann was the youngest of nine children born to Christ and Rose (Zent) Amann on July 8th,1936 in Bentley, ND. She graduated from Mott High School. On January 12 th ,1959, she married Alan Honeyman of Regent, ND. They had five children including their daughter Marla and four sons: Gary, Ron, Russ, and Joel.
Starting from an empty field, Alan and Irene built their home and ranch known as "Stoney Butte Ranch", located 8 miles north of Regent. It was there that Irene started her professional occupation as Farm and Ranch wife, a way of life that she loved for more than 60 years. Irene's passion was cooking for her family at the farm. She was particularly proud of bringing a full hot meal for "dinner" (the noon meal) out to the field in the spring and the fall. Every week for more than 50 years, she baked homemade bread and made other delightful desserts and treats. Her particular talents included making dumplings, kolaches, cookies, and butterhorn rolls. She was very proud of keeping an exceptionally clean house. If it was close to mealtime on the farm, she made sure that any and all guests stayed and enjoyed a hearty meal at the family table.
In the early years, Alan and Irene traveled across country showing champion Polled Hereford cattle. Irene enjoyed many other trips with Alan and their children and grandchildren, notably summer and winter fishing trips. She particularly enjoyed jigging during ice fishing season on Lake Sakakawea. For many years, she ran a bed breakfast with Alan for pheasant hunting in the area. She always took great care of guests and enjoyed making new friends who visited from all over the country. In later years, she enjoyed the company of her 15 grandchildren and loved cooking meals and baking treats for them.
Irene was an active and dedicated member of St. Henry's Catholic Church of Regent and the Ladies guild, always providing meals and assistance whenever needed.
Grateful for sharing in Irene's life are daughter Marla (Kevin) Muth, Lincoln, ND, sons Gary (Tia) Honeyman, Regent, Ron (Stacey) Honeyman, Fargo, ND, Russ (Deb) Honeyman, Bismarck, ND and Joel (Stephanie) Honeyman, Fargo, ND, 15 grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Alan, who passed away in 2018. Her parents, Christ and Rose (Zent) Amann, brothers Peter, Leonard, Valentine, John, George and Jack and sister Hildegard and grandson, Mitchell Muth.
