Irene Bertsch, age 80 of Mott, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Mott Good Samaritan Society.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Assembly of God Church in Mott. Pastor John Amundson will officiate with burial in the Sunnsyslope Cemetery at Mott.

Special music will be provided by Lacy and Trish Schneider.

Serving as casketbearers are Tye Schneider, Lacey Schneider, Trish Schneider, Keith Hellman, Adam Fischer and Leland Fischer. All nieces and nephews are considered honorary bearers.

Irene Fischer was born on July 6, 1933 in New Leipzig, ND to John and Elma (Heim) Fischer. She spent her childhood on a farm by New Leipzig, ND. Irene completed the 8th grade of education in New Leipzig Public School. She helped on the family farm, worked at the Red Owl grocery store in New Leipzig and also babysat.

On February 8, 1956 she was united in marriage to Juluis Bertsch at Mott, ND. They began their life together on the farm southwest of Burt, ND and raised their family there. Irene enjoyed the farm life, visiting friends when delivering cream and eggs, and crocheting. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, playing cards especially Pinochle, Kingscorner, and Rummy, and making home-made ice cream with family and friends. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Mott and after its closing, became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Irene passed away at the Good Samaritan Society in Mott, ND on November 24, 2013.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Geig Schneider of Hebron, ND, son Kim Bertsch of Mott, ND, three grandchildren, Tye, Hebron, Lacey (Brandon) Schneider, Woodworth and Trish Schneider, Terry, MT, many foster grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara (Victor) Hellman, Monticello, MN, two brothers, Roy (Janet) Fischer, Belle Fouche, SD, Les (Annie) Fischer,Waconia, MN, sister-in-law Kay Fischer, Pierre, SD, brother-in-laws Marvin Marthaller, Dickinson and Clifford Haas, Aberdeen, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Elma Fischer, her husband Juluis, son Jim, sisters Esther Haas, Agnes Haas, Ida Marthaller and brother, Lester Fischer.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Mott and on Friday one hour prior to services at the Assembly of God Church in Mott.

A memorial has been established.
