Funeral services for Ina E. Udell, age 75 of Carson, will be 10:30 am Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Grant County Fair Building in Carson. Pastor Dale Carmen will officiate with burial in the Carson Cemetery.


Serving as casketbearers are Shawn Udell, James Zimmerman, Kevin Udell, Kelly Udell, Kristan Udell, and Danny Hartman. All family members and friends are considered honorary bearers.


A memorial has been established.


INA ELIZABETH FRAASE was born October 29, 1933 in Carson, ND. She was the fourth of seven children born to Fred and Elizabeth (Buschold) Fraase. Ina was raised in Freda, in southeastern Grant County, where she attended school through the eighth grade.


She was united in marriage to Glenn Udell on April 14, 1949 in Mandan, ND. They lived and worked in the Bismarck area in the early years of their marriage. They were blessed with two boys, David and Gary. The family settled into the Carson community in 1952.


Ina worked as a homemaker taking care of her family. She started working outside the home in 1969 by tending bar for Otto Roesler, Larry Polenski, and Ben Schaff. Her health began to deteriorate in 2009.


Her life was enriched by her family and friends. She loved the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Ina was often found attending school functions and playing numerous games including Trouble, Crazy 8's, and Old Maid. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She enjoyed her bowling leagues and was also known for her wonderful gardens. Her tremendous sense of fun and humor brought numerous smiles, giggles, and laughs to many. She considered many people in her community as part of her family.


Ina passed away early Thursday morning, July 16, 2009 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin. She was a truly wonderful person and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.


She is survived by her husband, Glenn Udell, Carson, ND; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, David Udell, Carson, ND; Gary and Connie Udell, Sturgis, SD; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Kasper Laches, Mott, ND; Alice and Frank Fischer, Carson, ND; 1 brother and 3 sisters-in-law, Roger and Charlene Fraase, Dickinson, ND; Betty Fraase, Moorehead, MN; and Mercy Fraase, Tacoma, WA.


Ina was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Ronald Fraase and Fred Fraase Jr., 1 sister and brother-in-law, Adeline and Chuck Chadwick.


Visitation will be Sunday 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.
