HILDA RENKE was born September 4, 1911 south of Bentley, ND to Reinhold and Carolina (Yanke) Renke. She grew up on a farm south of Bentley and attended the Solen Country School. Her parents died when Hilda was 7 years old. She went to live with the Beyer Family in the Hebron area where she continued her schooling. When Hilda was in her early teens, she went to live with her sister Olga Kom south of Bentley. Hilda was united in marriage to Edwin John Bieber on September 18, 1932. They farmed near his parents homestead northeast of Mott until 1936. They moved to Missoula, MT where they farmed and her husband worked for the railroad and in the sugar processing plant. They returned to the home farm in 1943 following Edwin's father's death and operated the place until retiring in 1966. Hilda and Edwin moved into Mott where they continued to spend their retirement years together. Edwin passed away on March 1, 1985. She continued to live in her home until entering an apartment where she lived for 3 years. In 2005, Hilda entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott. She passed from this life there early Saturday morning, August 6, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 2 days.

Hilda loved fishing, quilting, gardening, reading, traveling, and playing cards, especially pinochle. She had a gift of service where she would cook and bake goodies, and give it to her many friends. She loved the countryside and life on the farm. She always had a song in her heart. If you wanted to know where she was, all you would have to do is listen, and you would hear her singing or whistling. She kept a journal of quotes and tidbits, "the woman who drives from the back seat is no worse than the man who cooks from the dining room table." She was very independent and had a good sense of humor, always enjoying a good joke. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She always was glad to see her grandchildren, and always had cookies or candy for them.

Keeping her in their fondest memories are her 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Leila and Stan Smith, Mott, ND; Ruth and Larry Stang, Dickinson, ND; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Loran and Marion Bieber, East Lansing, MI; Allan and Carmen Bieber, Tempe, AZ; 10 grandchildren, Michael Bieber; Susan and her husband Don Kuchnichi; Steven Bieber and his wife Carie; Scott Bieber and his wife Tara; Pam and her husband Todd Lane; Jennifer and her husband Mike Brandt; Jason Smith; Jamie and her husband Dave Kusner, Shannay and her husband Keith Witte; Jonathan Stang; 16 great grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law, Otto Bieber, Davenport, IA; 1 sister-in-law, Hilda Mueller, Carlsbad, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 sisters, Olga Kom, Frieda Reichert, Helen Klein, Joanne (Lemke) Renke; 1 brother, Art Renke; and 1 grandson in infancy.

Visitation will be Tuesday 1:00 to 8:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Mott and on Wednesday one hour prior to services at Trinity Lutheran Church.
