Hayden Syler Gossel gained his wings on October 4, 2021 in Rapid City, South Dakota with his loving family by his side. Hayden was born May 13 th , 2003 in Hettinger, North Dakota to Bernard and Angelique (Helfrich) Gossel.
Hayden was a senior at Hettinger Public School. When he wasn't attending school or spending time with his family, you could find him working at Kennedy's Fresh Foods. You can ask any of the locals and they would proudly tell you that he was their favorite grocer! He always took the time to carry conversation with the people and never ceased to bring a smile to their faces. He was such a people person and enjoyed his job and his coworkers very much.
Hayden was described by his closest friends as a dare-devil—whipping cookies and making bets about anything he possibly could to convince his friends to race him. He loved his truck, working on it in any spare time he had. Hayden also had a passion for gaming and technology and was a world class prankster. Some might even call him the "stapler bandit."
Those who were blessed enough to know Hayden knew that he was the most gentle soul you'd ever meet. He was kind, witty, snarky, charismatic, and gentle. His smile would light up any room that he walked into and his jokes could bring out the best laughs in anyone. Family was incredibly important to Hayden and they will forever treasure every moment they were able to spend with him here on Earth.
Although Hayden's life was cut short, he was able to touch the lives of so many people around him. His kindness, gentle spirit, and positivity will be greatly missed and the world is truly a darker place without his beautiful, shining light.
"I cried when you passed away. I still cry today. Although I loved you dearly, I couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me, He only takes the best.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his parents, Bernie and Angel Gossel, of Hettinger, his "bonus sister", Destiney Kremer, of Hettinger, grandparents, Gary and Violet Helfrich, of Hettinger and Theresa Gossel, of Hot Springs, SD, great grandmother, Mary Derrick, of Hot Springs, SD and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates and extended family.
Hayden was preceded in death by his great grandparents Arthur and Magdalena Helfrich, great grandfather, Robert Derrick, grandfather, Walter Beckman, grandmother, Augusta Wipf, uncle, Corey Helfrich, aunt, Wendy Holler and cousin Mikey.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial will be established in Hayden's memory.
