HARVEY LOGAN GREEN was born on April 24, 1921 to William L. and Barbara (Srb) Green near Regent, North Dakota where he was raised on the family farm. He attended a country school near his home. As a young man Harvey joined the CCC and worked on a project in Medora. He then went to California and worked in an airplane factory for a short time before returning to North Dakota.
On February 1st, 1944 Harvey was united in a marriage that was sustained over 72 years to Helen A. Oberlander in Wibaux, Montana. They lived south of Mott for many years where they farmed together and raised their children. They moved to Mott in 1968.
Harvey and Helen spent many winters in Arizona enjoying the warm climate and making many more lifelong friends. They became residents of the Good Samaritan Home in Mott in November of 2014 where they received exceptional care.
Harvey had a warm smile and a gentle disposition. He treasured his family. Harvey was always ready to lend a helping hand to all who asked. He was a kind and giving man who loved to visit. He served as clerk on the Kern Township board for many years, was active in the church, and drove school bus in addition to tending his animals and farming his land. In his retirement he maintained a beautiful garden, enjoyed coffee at the Pheasant Café, and fed his sweet tooth at every opportunity. The next time you have fried chicken or a shrimp burger, think of Harvey!
Harvey passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, May 28, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mott.
