HAROLD OLSON was born on May 8, 1920 to Nels and Anna Olson at his parents homestead in Duck Creek Township in rural Adams County, ND. He grew up on his family's farm and went to school at the Pleasant View School. Harold began farming and ranching at an early age and in 1964, he purchased his parents place. Harold met Pauline Purington and they were united in marriage on May 1, 1965 at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. They purchased a home in Hettinger and Harold would travel to the farm to work, even on snowmobile during the winter months. He truly enjoyed being a farmer, rancher and "cowboy" and working in the dirt and grease. Harold retired in 1982, but continued to help work cattle at the Ross and Linda Engraf ranch and worked cattle just a few weeks prior to his death. Harold loved hunting, fishing, growing a garden, playing cribbage and especially spending time with his "grandkids". Harold passed from this life at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger as the result of a heart attack while deer hunting on November 8, 2004. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
