Funeral services for Gwen Buer, age 77 of Shadehill, will be 2:00pm Tuesday, February 12, at the American Lutheran Church in Bison. Pastor Marjorie Hershey will officiate with burial in the Bison Cemetery.

A family service will be held at 7:00pm on Monday evening at the American Lutheran Church in Bison.

Special music will be provided by JoAnn Seim, and the Buer Family.

Serving as casketbearers are her 7 children.

A memorial has been established.

Gwenivere Allen was born September 26, 1930, in Hettinger ND to Fred Keith and Alys Grace (Ingraham) Allen. Gwen attended South Strool Grade School and graduated from Lemmon High School. She received her teaching certificate at Black Hills State College the summer of 1948. In the fall of 1948, Gwen was hired to teach at the Parker School, Lodgepole SD at the age of 17.

On June 1, 1949, Gwen was united in marriage to Lloyd Allen Buer at Rapid City, SD. They made their home on the Buer ranch north of Bison. To this union seven children were born, starting one of Gwen's greatest accomplishments, raising her children. Her life devotion was her family. Gwen enjoyed following her children to their sporting activities and music events. She and Lloyd loved to go out dancing to their childrens' music. Both Gwen and Lloyd blessed and shared their love of music with their children. Gwen also loved to garden, sew and cook. She was quite an accomplished seamstress, keeping her family well dressed. Gwen treasured the time with her grandkids. Everyone enjoyed stopping for coffee, treats and conversation.

After Lloyd's death in April of 2001, Gwen stayed on the ranch until July when she moved to Bison. She remained in Bison until September of 2007 when she moved to Western Horizons Assisted Living, Hettinger ND. Her short time at Western Horizons was a great enjoyment to her with plenty of girl friends, card playing, puzzles and coffee. Gwen was hospitalized on January 4, 2008 at the West River Regional Medical Center and passed from this life February 8, 2008.

Grateful for having shared her life are 6 sons and daughter-in-laws, Lynn & Rhonda Buer, Britton SD, Lance & Janet Buer, Moorcroft WY, Peter and Donna Buer, Belle Fourche SD, Corey & Melainie Buer, Gillette WY, Todd & Anna Buer, Shadehill SD, Tracy & Tammy Buer, Bison SD; 1 daughter Pam Buer and fiancée Allen Anderson, Scranton ND; 20 grandchildren 6 great grandchildren; 4 sisters & brother-in-law, Joyce Morey, Tifton, Georgia, Maxine Kilmer, Lakewood, CA, Arletta & Earl Dailey, Rapid City, SD, Ardath Waisanen, Deadwood, SD; 1 brother & sister-in-law Sam & Norma Allen, Miami FL; 1 sister-in-law Judith Buer, Meadow SD; as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband , Lloyd A Buer and her parents Fred & Alys Allen.
