Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our Father, Guy Michael Warren (Gunny).  He passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022, at St. Luke Memorial in Dickinson, ND, at the age of 71.  Our Dad enjoyed making people smile and was always cracking jokes.  He was definitely born with no filter and that was part of his charm.

Dad was born February 17, 1951, to parents Robert and Julia (Pudwill) Warren, both deceased.  Dad was married to Elaine Ruth Makens on September 12, 1968, and lived in McIntosh, SD.  Upon graduating high school, Guy entered the Army, and was honorably discharged in June, 1970. At that point, Guy was a city worker and Elaine worked for the county.  They had their first child, Robert Warren, in 1969, and were blessed again with a second son, Brian P. Warren, in June of 1971.  After that, Guy went to electrical school in Mitchell, SD and graduated top of his class.  Beyond that they moved to Dickinson, ND and opened a janitorial service and then eventually co-managed the Ivanhoe Inn for several years.  In 1989, they moved to Oregon and remained there until 2008, when they moved to New Leipzig, ND and created Gunny's Bait and Tackle in Elgin, ND.  They ran Gunny's until 2017 when they retired and sold the bar to Brian.

Guy leaves behind, his wife of 54 years, Elaine; sons: Robert (Monica) and Brian (Misty); grandchildren: Britney Warren (Lauren), Courtney Warren, Andrew Warren (Lindsey), Malachi Hawkins, and Ryan Guzmen.  His siblings include Jerry Pack (Al), Charlie Warren, and Penny Burke (Leroy).

He will be reunited with his sisters that passed before him, Sharon Nydigger, Paulette Miller and Sandy Norton; brother-in-law, John Allen Suggs; and too many other family and friends to mention.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at the New Leipzig Community Center in New Leipzig, ND.

"Dad spent his final years driving my Mom crazy…Dad was a pain in the ass, but he was our pain in the ass, and we loved him and will miss him dearly."

Cards may be sent to Elaine Warren, 317 5 th Ave E., New Leipzig, ND  58562.
