Gregory Allen Shaykett age 57 of Newell, died suddenly on Saturday February 23, 2008 in Newell.

The funeral service will be held 10 am Wednesday at the Nisland Independent Community Church with Rev. Doug Clark officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery near Fruitdale.

Gregory Allen Shaykett was born March 29, 1951 in Huron SD. He was the son of Charles and Dorothy (Adams) Shaykett. In 1961 Greg moved with his family to Miller SD where he graduated from high school in 1970. Greg was a lifetime farmer and rancher. He worked as a ranch hand in many places, including Texas, Reliance SD, Wyoming, the Nisland area and for the past 10 years in the Newell area. For the past several years, Greg has worked for Doc Martin and the Newell Vet Clinic, as well as farming part time on his own.

Greg loved farming and ranching. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going for coffee.

Greg is survived by his mother, Dorothy (and step-father Frank) Wellner of Miller SD; brother, Steven (Dianna) Shaykett of Sioux Falls; niece Jessica of Seattle WA; nephew, Travis of Sioux Falls; and step-brother, Frankie (Cathy) Wellner of Pierre and their children Megan and Patrick.

He was preceded in death by his father.
