GORDON FRANCIS ROMNESS was born on February 2, 1918 to Gunder and Florence (Tisland) Romness on their homestead, 10 miles south of Ellingson, SD. He grew up there and was a farmer and rancher all of his life, except during World War II, when he served in the US Navy in the South Pacific Theater. On March 18, 1945, he was married to Gudrun Abelseth, "a neighbor girl", and after his discharge from the Navy, they took over the Romness family farm and ranch. They lived there until their retirement, when they moved into Hettinger, ND. Gordon was a lifelong member of the Duck Creek Lutheran Church.

Gordon F. Romness passed away at the Western Horizon Assisted Living facility in Hettinger on January 1, 2006.

Those most grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Gudrun Romness, of Hettinger, daughter, Roxie (Ron) Foster, of Arvada, CO; sister, Evelyn Douglas, of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughters, Kristen (Tadd) Overstreet, of Arvada, CO and Andrea (Bob) Foss, of Windsor, CO; four great grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew, Adam and Victoria; numerous nieces and nephews.
