Glenn Udell was born to Cyrus Earl and Marie (Schadler) Udell in Mina, SD on Aug 28, 1923. While growing up, he lived, farmed and went to school in Mina and Eureka South Dakota and also in Faulkton and Shields North Dakota. In 1939 Glenn went to work to help support his family by joining the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) planting trees and working irrigation in Sidney, Montana. His family farmed approximately 100 acres with 50 head of cattle. His country called him to duty in November of 1945 when he enlisted in the US Army. He was discharged after WWII.

He married Ina Fraase in April of 1949. They moved to Bismarck where Glenn worked as a mechanic for D&S freight lines. In 1951 they moved back to Shields to help his father on the farm. Glenn and Ina had two little boys when they moved to Carson, North Dakota in 1952 where Glenn again worked as a mechanic for a few years. From 1955 to 1961, he also worked for his brother Lester's road construction business. During this time frame the family lived in Carson, Wilton and Galesburg, North Dakota. The family settled in Carson in 1961 with Glenn working as a mechanic and also doing various other jobs. Glenn partnered with his son, Dave opening D&G auto parts and service in 1977. Glenn retired in 2006.

Glenn's interests included music, automotive mechanics and welding, all of which he learned on his own. He learned to play the Spanish guitar when he was young (10 or 11) and later in 1936-37 often played with his dad, Earl with the Ontry News square dance club. He started playing with the Reiny Mayer Trio in 1975 and retired from that band in 1988.

Glenn went to join the love of his life on Thursday, October 18, 2012.

He and Ina had two boys, David of Carson, North Dakota, and Gary (Connie) of Sturgis, South Dakota. They had 5 grandchildren, James, Kevin, Shawn, Kelly and Kristan along with 5 great grandchildren.

Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Ina; his parents Cyrus and Marie; and his siblings, Ruby, Ione, Larry, Lester, Art, Harold, Robert and Raymond.
