Funeral service for Gertrude E. Larson, age 99, of Lemmon, SD, will be Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the St Luke's Lutheran Church in Lemmon. Pastor Norman Greve will officiate and burial will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Funeral at the church on Sunday afternoon.

Gertrude Elizabeth Storm was born on July 11, 1917 to Wilhelm and Clara (Limmer) Storm on the homestead in North Dakota near Thunder Hawk, SD. She became a child of God through baptism soon after. This service was conducted in a home in North Lemmon because German Church services were banned in South Dakota. This continued until the end of WWI.

Gertrude grew in the knowledge of God's word by attending Sunday School, Vocation Bible School and confirmation class. On July 10, 1932 she was confirmed in St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lemmon, SD by Pastor Blume. She completed eight years of education in Menz Country School. Gertrude loved to be outdoors. It was a joy for her to be a caretaker of God's creation.

On June 30, 1946, Gertrude Storm and Lars Edward Larson were joined together in marriage at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lemmon, SD by Pastor Rutz. They lived near Mobridge, SD the first 2 and a half years of their marriage, then they moved to the Storm homestead north of Thunder Hawk. She resided there until May of 2011. This marriage was blessed with three children, Dean, Elizabeth and Luella. Gertrude was loved and respected by her family, her church and community.

Gertrude passed away on Friday morning, July 7, 2017 at the Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Dean (Kathy) Larson of Lemmon, SD, (the Storm Homestead), Elizabeth (Norman) Greve, Iron River, MI and Luella Odmark, Anchorage, AK; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Parth) Melpakam, Anthony (Jodi) Larson, Michael (Amanda) Larson, Hannah (Bryan) Hallahan, Philip (Erica) Larson, Andrew (Rebecca) Larson, Nathan (Rachel) Greve, Jonathon (Britta) Greve, Joel Greve, Matthew (Jordan) Greve, David Greve, Robert Odmark and Amy Odmark; several great grandchildren, a sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Lars Edward Larson, her parents, Wilhelm and Clara (Limmer) Storm, her two brothers, Kurt and Walter Storm and a sister, Esther Ohlde.
