GEORGE ADOLPH BAIL was born in Danville, IL on September 23, 1913 to Philbert and Juliette (Lupont) Bail. Shortly after his birth he moved with his parents to La Moure, ND. They left La Moure and moved to South Dakota crossing the Missouri River at Mobridge with a Model T car on a ferry. At age 3, George came with his family to the old headquarters of the D.Z. Cattle Ranch south of McIntosh and later purchased the present place where he would spend his entire life. George grew up and attended various schools in the area. He lived through the "Dirty 30's" and worked for the W.P.A. and anything else he could do to care for his place and his mother. During the 30's, it took great patience and faith in God to even exist.
On October 11, 1947, he was united in marriage to Inez Rossman at Lemmon. George purchased the place in 1949. He loved the great open spaces and took pleasure in his work and his cattle, and also helping others. They were companions in every way and members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He lived a long, useful life having God as his guide in times of joy and sorrow.
In late 2006, he entered Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon. He passed from this life on Saturday, March 3, at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger at the age of 93 years, 5 months, 10 days.
Grateful for having shared his life are several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Inez on December 26, 2006, his parents, and 2 brothers, Albert and Adolph.
