Genevieve ""Jennie"" Swenson, age 75 of Hettinger, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Memorial service will be Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. MT at the Bucyrus Lutheran Church in Bucyrus, ND. Rev. Stephanie Swanson will officiate and the burial of Jennie's ashes will be at a later date at the Wolf Butte Cemetery. Visitation will be on hour prior at the church on Thursday morning.

Genevieve ""Jennie"" O. Swenson was born May 24th, 1938 to Clarence and Myrtle (Heden) Nelson in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She attended rural Highlanding School in Minnesota for three years. Jennie then moved to North Dakota with her mother and two brothers. While in North Dakota, she attended Lightning Creek School for three years. She then attended Reeder School and lived with the Hutton family, becoming like a daughter to them and a sister to Helen, Paul, and John.

On May 2nd, 1955, Jennie was united in marriage to Allan Swenson. Three children were born to this union; Brian, Naomi, and Chad.

Jennie loved bowling, collecting antiques, quilting, volunteering at the Clothes Closet, hunting arrowheads, and having coffee with friends. She loved people and touched the lives of all who knew her. She was proud of her family, especially her grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 58 years, Allan, Hettinger, ND; three children, son, Brian (Laurie) Swenson, Vernal, Utah, daughter, Naomi (Greg) Burbach, Glendive, Mt and son, Chad (Andrea) Swenson, Hettinger, ND; four grandchildren, Taylor Burbach, Amanda (Bobby) Hopper, Jordan (Jenna) Burbach and Kali Swenson; two great-grandchildren, Mason Hopper and Charley Hopper; brothers Kenny Nelson and Vernon Nelson, sisters Corrine (Don) Downing and Marilyn Drager, brothers Donald Drager and Ronald Drager and special friends Lenore Hutton, Helen (Sam) Dowr, Paul Hutton and John Hutton.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Doris Ostby, and one brother Richard Drager.
