The Funeral Service for Gene Anderson, age 86 of Hettinger, formerly of Regent, ND, will be held at 11:00am Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Assembly of God Church in Mott. Pastor David Skjoldal will officiate with burial will be in the Alden Cemetery south of Regent.

Serving as casketbearers are Russ Schauer, Bob Carlson, Larry, Anthony, Aaron and Michael Anderson, Alex Dutton, and Jim Carlson.  All friends and relatives are Honorary Bearers.

Gene Alton Anderson was born in Regent, ND on June 20, 1932, to Hilmer and Bertha (Thiede) Anderson.  He grew up on the family farm south of Regent.  He attended Alden rural school for his first six years.  Gene then went to Regent Public School graduating in 1951.  Following his graduation he attended the North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton.

Gene was inducted into the US Army on May 8, 1953 and was medically discharged on October 28, 1954.  He returned to Wahpeton and completed his education.  He graduated with an engineer degree.  Gene worked for the State of North Dakota as a draftsman.  He worked there for 35 years.  After his retirement, he returned to the family farm.

He was admitted to the care center in Hettinger on November 19, 2016.   Gene passed away on Saturday, March 2, at the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger, ND.

Surviving family members include his niece, Michelle (Jason) Dutton, Topeka, KS; nephew, Michael Anderson, Regent, ND; sister-in-law, Loretta Anderson, Regent, ND; great nephews, Anthony, Aaron, and Austin Anderson, and Alex Dutton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Verne Anderson.
