Gary Helfrich, age 68 of Hettinger, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger, ND.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. All on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger.

Gary Michael Helfrich was born on November 2, 1952 in Mott North Dakota to Arthur and Magdalena (Binstock) Helfrich.  He was the second youngest of 13 siblings.  Gary attended St. Vincent's elementary and graduated from Mott high school.

Gary brought three beautiful children into the world prior to marrying his one love Violet (Beckman) Helfrich.  When they started dating Gary took on the role of father to Violet's daughter.  They then brought two more beautiful children into the world blending their family of six.  Gary was a hard worker and provided for his family.  He farmed, worked at a coal mine, and finally his true passion as a butcher until his health no longer allowed him to.  Gary was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan.

He love to fish and hunt with his boys and even when he was no longer able to he still couldn't wait to see the catch of the day.  Those that knew Gary knew he was a man of few words and his family was his priority.  Gary's whole world revolved around his grandchildren.  He seldom missed any sports or activities they were in.  He was the one that all of his children would come to for advice and comfort.

Gary is survived by wife Violet Helfrich, daughters Cheryl (Nolan) Dix, Hettinger, Brandy Beckman, Hettinger, Angelique (Bernie) Gossel, Hettinger. son, Walter Helfrich, Mandan, siblings, Kenneth (Vicki) Helfrich, Bismarck, Vince (Ella) Helfrich, Mandan, Louis Helfrich, Dickinson, Matthew (Margaret) Helfrich, Billings MT, Harvey (Catherine) Helfrich , Gillette, WY, MaryAnn (Harry) Wiedmer, Tioga ND, Dolores (Mike) Friez, Mott, ND, Nine grandchildren, Whitney (Blake) Wold, Marissa Holler, Jacob, Joshua, Gabrielle and Isabella Dix, Destiny Kremer, Vanessa Helfrich, Kailey Kremer and son-in-law, Randy Holler.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Magdelena Helfrich, daughter, Wendy Holler son, Corey Helfrich, grandson, Hayden Gossel, siblings, Patty Helfrich, Clara Messmer, Betty Herner, Arthur Helfrich and Tony Helfrich.
