Serving as Honorary Casketbearers are Steve Bay, Roger Harmon, Lane Weber, Jim Honeyman, Wilmer Steinley, and Wesley Sick. Active Casketbearers are his grandchildren, Douglas Bay, Eric Bay, Jared Bay, Audrey Holtslander, David Bay, and Donald Bay.

Frederic was born on September 5, 1907 in Mountain Lake MN, the oldest of nine children born to Frederic and Eva (Sokolofsky) Bay. After moving to North Dakota with his parents, Fred farmed and worked in the Carson area with his family.

He was united in marriage to Norah Hope Martin on March 16, 1944 in Heil, ND. They lived and farmed in the Carson area, later moving to Lark in 1947. They continued to ranch there until 1989 when they retired.

Fred's first concern was his family, his faith, and his many friends. Fred loved to tease and to tell stories of the older days. He treasured spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working the soil in both farming and his gardens along with fishing. Fred had a great passion for the Bald Eagle. He hand-crafted a 7 foot tall wooden bald eagle and placed it on the hill near his farm in Lark. Since then he has collected and been given various statues of his eagles.

Fred is survived by his two sons, Jerry and Mitchell, both of Bismarck, ND, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norah, one son, John, five sisters, Marie, Anne, Lydia, Martha and Tillie, three brothers, Edmond, Sam, and Jacob Bay.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Carson.
