Freda L. (Wuest) Traxel, 89, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, March 1, 2010.
Freda was born November 11, 1920 to Helmuth and Mary (Rath) Wuest in Heil, ND. She grew up and attended school in the Elgin area and graduated from Elgin High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Eugene E. Traxel on June 23, 1941 at Fairview, MT. Together, they purchased a farm seven miles south of Carson where they farmed and ranched together, and raised their three sons.
Freda thoroughly enjoyed life. In her early years, she was an avid dancer, and loved dancing with her husband. She was a great cook and loved to bake. She enjoyed spoiling guests with delicious meals topped off with mouth-watering pies. Freda was an animal lover and had numerous cats and dogs. While living on the farm, she raised the chickens she so dearly loved.
She spent much of her time gardening and canning. She loved playing card games, especially whist and pinochle.
One of her greatest joys was being a mother and grandmother. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all.
Freda lost her husband and soul mate on January 13, 1994. She continued to live in the home they built together until 2001 when she moved into Carson. When her health began to fail in the summer of 2007, it was necessary for her to move to Jacobson Memorial Care Center in Elgin.
Surviving family members include her sons; Dayton (Donna) Traxel, Eau Claire, WI; Clinton (Bonnie) Traxel, Mandan, ND; grandchildren; Waco Traxel, Montie Barth, Shawn Barth, Lonnie Barth, Alisha Schmidt, Josh Schmidt, Matthew Sather, and Kelly Sather; 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special friend and cousin, Arlene Kinder.
