Funeral services for Fred Huber, age 88, of Lemmon, SD, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the New Hope Worship Center in Lemmon, SD. Pastors Derrick Jones and John Simons will officiate with burial to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon.

Fred was born in Grant county ND on May 25, 1927, near Pretty Rock, ND. He finished his grade school education at Schrader school No. 2 which was a mile and ¾ from the Huber homestead. He grew up there working for farmers and ranchers in the local area. He then drove semi-truck for a few years until he took up an education in electronics and went into business on his own as Huber TV Sales & Service. He enjoyed driving the roads of North & South Dakota traveling to the many farmsteads in a five county area putting up antennas and bringing TV to residents in the area for nearly 40 years, until his retirement at age 62 in 1989.

Fred married Deloris Christian on July 6, 1957 they had two children together, Dale & Darlynn. Fred also had two grand-children, Darrick and Trevor Kraft.

Fred was an avid gardener he loved working the earth growing everything from vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, and onions, to fruit trees and berries bushes. His Lemmon, SD property was full of nature's goodness stored in canned goods on the shelves in his home.

Fred took up flying as a Private Pilot putting in about 150 hours in a Cherokee 140 aircraft for his own pleasure as well as the many people he took up in the air with his hands at the controls.

In Fred's life of 88 years if one were able to ask what was most important to him & what he enjoyed the most. He would have stated "My encounter with Jesus Christ who saved me from the awful punishment meant for all of us. Having only to receive my Salvation as a gift from God, not of good works, or anything else!"

Fred was child number six in a large family of fifteen belonging to John & Katherine Huber. His siblings being Edna, Edwin, William, Oscar, Paul, Fred, Lydia, Ruby, Lyla, Liella, Leo, Ruben, Jerome, Allen, & Sharon.

Fred passed away on Tuesday evening, January 19, 2016 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Deloris Huber, Lemmon, SD; one son, Dale Huber, Chowchilla, CA; one daughter, Darylnn (Hayland) Bishop, Nipomo, CA; two grandchildren, Derrick and Trevor Kraft; two brothers, Jerome (Pearl) Huber and Allen (Patricia) Huber, both of Wisconsin; three sisters, Lyla (Patrick) Madden, in Wisconsin, Liella Moll, Fargo, ND, and Sharon Kouba, Tucson, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Edna, Edwin, William, Oscar, Paul, Lydia, Ruby, Rueben and Leo.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday afternoon.
