Frank Jahner was born May 7, 1918 to Michael Jahner and Cecilia (Greff) Jahner, the youngest of 12 children. He grew up on a farm 17 miles northeast of Regent, next to St. Michaels Church. He attended a German school on the same farm for 5 years and then an English-language, one-room school house west of the farm for another 4 years. When he quit school he had officially completed the sixth grade. Farming was the work Frank knew, so on June 10, 1941, when Frank married Eva Sticka, they made their home on the farmstead where he was raised. They farmed the land, milked cows, and raised cattle, sheep, hogs, chickens and even some turkeys.

Over the years, Frank enjoyed bowling, horses, fishing, Twins baseball, his Wednesday night horseshoe games with the guys, the neighborhood get-togethers, whether it was to help butcher and make sausage, or to celebrate a "Name's Day" and play cards. Card games - he loved to play cards: whist, pinochle, cribbage or "Pedro", it didn't matter the game, just make sure if you were his partner, you pay attention, and play to win.

Frank served on the Madison Township Board, the Regent Public School Board, he was a chartered member of the Knights of Columbus in both Mott and Regent, a lifelong member of St. Pius Verein, and an active member of St, Henry's Church. Frank was also very dedicated to the preservation of the St. Michael's Cemetery. Frank & Eva retired from the farm in 1976 and moved to Regent. He served as the Mayor for Regent and spent much of his days at the Regent Lumber Yard enjoying the visits with people coming through the doors. On summer days , he took pleasure in driving out to the farm to check the crops and help his sons with the harvest.

After Eva passed away in 1998, Frank stayed active pedaling his bike about Regent, helping at the Historical Society, delivering congregate meals to shut-ins and driving about southwestern North Dakota with his friend , Joe Matasovsky. His family was a source of immense pride and he never hesitated to tell people that his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He treasured family gatherings and cherished visits from his children and grandchildren. He was a man who truly loved life.

Grateful for having been loved by this kind man are his children: Fred (Pat) Jahner , Alexandria, MN; Barbara (Gene) Bergee, Dilworth, MN; Marvin (Alta) Jahner, Wahpeton, ND; Loretta (Nick) Reinert, Dickinson, ND; Alvira (David) Schaaf, Glen Ullin, ND; Gerald (Mary) Jahner, Mott, ND; Donna (Berdette) Howe, Bismarck, ND; Francis (Teresa) Jahner, Rapid City, SD; James (Connie) Jahner, Mott, ND; Marie (David) Nasset, Bowman, ND; Connie (Les) Kirschmann, Regent, ND; 56 grandchildren, 96 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
