Frances "Fran" O'Donnell passed away at her home on Friday, December 11, 2020 in Morristown, SD.

The Rosary service will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. all on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morristown, SD.  Fr. Dan Juelfs will officiate with burial to follow in the Morristown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.

Frances Jeanette Howard was born on November 21, 1945 to Stephen and Helen Jean Howard in Spencer, IA.  She attended grade school in Spencer until her family moved to a farm north of Big Stone City, SD.  There she attended a country school, graduating from Milbank High School in 1964 as a member of the National Honor Society and was very active in high school activities.

Fran attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD, where she met her husband, Dennis, marrying him on December 10, 1966, in Milbank, SD.  The couple settled on a farm south of Morristown, SD.

They welcomed four children into the world, raising wheat, cattle, sheep, pigs, cats and dogs until they moved into Morristown in 1999.  Fran was very active in the community as a member of Sacred Heart Altar Society, CCD teacher, South Country Extension Club and finance officer for the town of Morristown.  She loved fishing, gambling and crocheting, making many afghans for her children and grandchildren.

Fran is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dennis O'Donnell; four children, Michele (Doug) Schoenborn, Mahnomen, MN, Kevin (Kelli) O'Donnell, Sioux Falls, SD, Stephanie (Robert) Makin, Crookston, MN and Keith O'Donnell, Bismarck, ND; six grandchildren, Justin and Corey Frank, Dane Schoenborn, Mattie O'Donnell, Keelie and Lainey Makin, Christian, Isabel and Gabriel O'Donnell; six great-grandchildren, Emma Vig, Ava and Jack Frank, Arlo and Oliver Frank.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one great-grandchild, Presley Frank.
