Florence Zentner was born on October 5, 1940, to Jacob and Grace (Stern) Zentner in Mott, North Dakota. She grew up in Gackle, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school in 1958 and then worked as a bank teller. That same year, Florence met Johnny Miller. They were united in marriage on March 31, 1959, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Gackle. Soon after they were married, Johnny's job in road construction took them to Lemmon, South Dakota, and in 1960 they had their first child, Bruce. They welcomed their second child, Roxanne, in 1961, and their youngest, Steve, in 1964. Johnny and Florence lived, worked, and raised their children in Lemmon. Florence worked a variety of jobs. She especially enjoyed her job at Montgomery Ward with Jim and Ilene Duncan and her twenty-year career at Wheeler's Manufacturing, where she worked until her retirement in April of 2004.

Florence spent her free time quilting, baking, walking, and riding her bike. If she wasn't doing one of those things, she was probably having coffee with her dear friend Lorene Schweitzer. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of their time spent with her. She encouraged them to be active, inquisitive, creative and adventurous. She taught them to embroider, bake, and sew. They looked through a microscope, worked in the garden, did crafts and went on walks together. A favorite family activity at Grandma's house was completing 1000+ piece puzzles into the early hours of the morning.

In 2011 Florence moved to Rapid City to be near her children. She made her home at Bella Vista Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for the last 5 ½ years. Florence passed away on October 22, 2017, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. Her family extends their gratitude to the staff at Bella Vista for the compassionate care shown to Florence over the years.

Florence is survived by her children Roxanne (Gary) Holzer and Steve (Barb) Miller of Rapid City, her daughter-in-law Danette Miller of Parker, Colorado, and her nine grandchildren: Heather Miller and her fiancé Michael Goodman, Sabra (Adam) Peetz, Cory Miller, Tyler (Rachel Losh) Holzer, Ryan Holzer, Kahli, Jordan, Alex, and Payton Miller, and her brother Norbert Zentner.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Bruce, her sisters, Margaret and Marie, and her brothers, Alexander, Joe, and Paul.
