Florence Amy Knispel was born May 28, 1943, to John and Aimee (Arch) Knispel in Flasher, ND. She attended a rural country school and in 1961 graduated from McIntosh High School and then Bismarck Junior College in Bismarck, ND. Florence met Larry Hinderer at a dance in Elgin, ND. In the fall of 1962, Larry, Florence and Florence's sister Pearl traveled to Renton, WA, looking for work. On February 27, 1963, Larry and Florence were married in Renton and moved back to North Dakota when Larry's father became ill that spring. The couple then made their home on the Hinderer family farm south of Carson where they raised their daughter Lisa and son Chad.
Florence loved decorating cakes, especially for family events. She also created beautiful oil paintings. Florence enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, putting together puzzles and playing cribbage, in which she seldom lost. She loved to listen to country western, blue grass, and gospel music, and dance to old-time waltzes and two-step music.
Florence fought a 25-year battle with multiple sclerosis with her husband Larry by her side. She never let her diagnosis break her spirit and she continued to live life to the fullest even as her health presented more challenges. She never complained and never asked, "Why me?"
Keeping Florence in their fondest memories are her husband of 58 years, Larry, Carson, ND; daughter, Lisa (Corey) Weippert, Bismarck, ND; son, Chad Hinderer (Valerie Benson), Fargo, ND; grandson, Jakob Weippert, Bismarck, ND; brother, Donald (Alvina) Knispel, Jones, OK; sisters, Mildred Seidel, Boise, ID; Rose Besser, Carson, ND; Pearl Calkins, Billings, MT; Elaine Miller, Mandan, ND; Dorothy (Ivan) Draskovic, McIntosh, SD; Laura (Doug) Doll, Mandan, ND; Erma (Lyle) Wohl, Linton, ND; sister-in-laws, Helen (Tony) Gregory, Lemmon, SD; Viola Baye, Spearfish, SD; Arlene Tousley, Rochester, MN; Brenda (John) Merriman, Lemmon, SD; brother-in-law, Ernie (Hilda) Hinderer, Flasher, ND; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver Stacey Finneman.
