Ternes
Jul 7, 1960 — Feb 9, 2025
Lancaster
Flint Michael Ternes, 64, Lancaster, California, formerly of Raleigh, North Dakota, passed away on February 9, 2025 at Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, California.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. CT on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Flasher, ND with Rev. Frank Schuster as celebrant. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. CT before mass. Burial will be at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, next to his brother Tracy Ternes.
Flint was born to Victor F. and Valeria Mary (Fleck) Ternes on July 7, 1960 at Elgin, ND. He was raised with three brothers at the foot of the Dog Tooth Hills on the family farm near Raleigh, ND. As a young boy, he competed in youth and 4-H rodeos. He attended Flasher Public School and graduated in 1978. Flint was a member of the Flasher High School band. He was an accomplished French horn and bassoon player.
After high school, Flint went to California and spent the summer with his Uncle Roger Ternes and wife, Marie. That fall, he returned to Bismarck to attend Mary College (presently University of Mary). He worked and attended school full-time. After graduating with a degree in Mental Health, he moved to Los Angeles, CA in May of 1980. Flint worked for Thom McCann for nine years and Payless Shoes for four years as a store manager at several locations throughout the Los Angeles area. He felt the corporate world of sales was not fulfilling enough. He then earned a Medical Assistance Certification from United Education Institute and worked at APLA Health, first as an Administrative Assistant and lastly, as Office Manager of the Dental Program.
Flint saw a need to help those infected with HIV. He found his "work" home at APLA helping fulfill this need. After suffering a stroke in 2006, his health forced him to retire early. He and life partner, Francisco Revelorio, also owned Cisco's Crazy Scissors. Flint and Francisco were married in 1999 in California. Flint and Francisco had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them at the many house parties they hosted. Flint was also very close to Francisco's family and was always included in family gatherings and holidays. Although he had many friends, his special time was spent with his animals. Days with them while Francisco was at work helped Flint pass the time. He also enjoyed yard work and raising flowers. Many said he had the most beautiful roses in the neighborhood. In July 2007, Flint was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, completed treatment, and went on to be cancer free.
This special man will be remembered for his quick wit, his kind outgoing personality, and his loving devotion to family and friends.
Flint will be deeply missed by his partner, Francisco Revelorio; his mother, Valeria Mary Ternes; brothers Farley (Cindy) Ternes, Flasher, ND and Stuart (Tammy) Ternes, Bismarck, ND; nephews Kyle (Becky) Ternes and Jess Ternes; and nieces Karmen (Brad) Steffan, Hatti (Mike) Blueitt, and Lexi (Peter) Ingraham, and their families.
Flint was preceded in death by his father Victor Ternes; brother Tracy Ternes, and grandparents Alex and Rose Fleck and Emmanuel and Aurora Ternes.
