FAYE GEORGIA JONES was born October 14, 1910 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Effie Pearl (Heffner) and Ira Jones. At an early age she moved with her family to Argonne Township in Adams County, North Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Faye attended Argonne Township Elementary School and Hettinger High School and was a member of the Bucyrus Lutheran Church.

On October 24, 1929 Faye was joined in Holy Matrimony to Obert Thorson. To this union three children were born: Betty Ann, Davetta and Billy. They lived and farmed near Bucyrus, ND. After retiring, Faye and Obert made their home in Yuma, Arizona during the winter months and in North Dakota during the summer.

Faye was known for stopping whatever she was doing at any time to make herself available for her grandchildren. She loved to listen to high school events broadcast on the local radio station – especially when the events involved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandma Faye is also fondly remembered for her grand sense of humor, always being ready for a game of pinochle, her homemade butterscotch rolls and donuts and her famous Swiss steak

Faye Thorson was called to Heaven on March 18, 2006 surrounded by her loving family at the Hillcrest Care Center in Hettinger, ND.

Grateful for having shared in Faye's life are her daughter, Betty Ann (Bill) Stockman, of Bismarck, ND; her son, Billy (Elgean) Thorson, of Hettinger, ND; her sister, Doris Surrell, of Hettinger; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Obert Thorson, one daughter, Davetta Ihle, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
