Obituary

Service of Remembrance for Faye V. Schell, age 76, will be held 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church In Hettinger on Monday, November 18th with private inurnment at a later date.

Faye Vera (Englehart) Schell, was born on July 30, 1943 in Bison, SD to Louis and Vera (Obst) Englehart, the tenth of eleven children.  In that era, mothers and newborns were not released to go home for several days, during that time in 1943 the area experienced one of the worse hail storms in Perkins County with large jagged hail stones that ripped through house roofs, broke windows, destroyed crops and injured livestock.  Faye was raised at the homestead on the banks of Smith Creek which was in one of the hardest hit areas by that storm.  She attended Ada and Lone Tree rural schools later transferring to Bison School, graduating in 1962. Faye was married to James Schell in 1962, to that union were born Lorraine and Constant.  After a divorce Faye raised the two children alone, working at various jobs, cooking at the Bison School during the school year and cleaning there during the summer breaks.  She then moved to Hettinger working in health care services, then moved back to Bison to manage the Municipal Bar and Liquor Store until her two children graduated from High School. Faye moved back to Hettinger for a job at Able, Inc. from which she retired in January 2014.

Faye's greatest joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of her life and never failed to bring a smile to her face.

Faye struggled with failing health for the last two years.  After several falls she entered the West River Health Services Long Term Care facility in July 2019.  Faye passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

Grateful for sharing her life are her daughter Lorraine (Gary) Uhrig, Morristown, SD; Constant (Kym) Schell , Temecula, CA; grandchildren: Chance (Courtney) Uhrig, Tyler (Amy) Uhrig and Trever Uhrig, all of Bismarck, ND and Denver Schell, Temecula, CA ; great grandchildren: Sawyer and Cullen, Bismarck, ND; one brother Llewellyn (Karen) Englehart of Bison, SD and one sister, Phyllis Nash of rural Hettinger, ND along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
