Service of Remembrance for Everett H. Haslid, 70, of Elgin, ND will be Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, ND. Rev. Ellis Ryherd will officiate and burial will follow at the Heil Cemetery, Heil, ND. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning.


EVERETT HENRY HASLID was born on October 12, 1937 on his parents farm, south of New Leipzig, ND to John and Regina (Reimann) Haslid. He grew up on the farm and helped area farmers. Everett attended school in Elgin, ND and later worked in Montana and Wyoming on various ranches. He later continued his education through a business course and lived in South Dakota and California. Everett operated service stations, did mechanic work, worked at a refinery and delivered freight. He enjoyed fishing, camping and reading about history. He was united in marriage to Ilene Erickson on June 5, 2000 in Glendive, MT. They made their home in Elgin, ND. Everett enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes to help with card games and playing bingo. In his spare time he also enjoyed gardening and watching sports on television.


Everett Haslid passed away at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin, ND on October 22, 2007.


He is survived by his wife, Ilene Haslid, Elgin; two sons, Darwin Haslid, Pinole, CA and Duane Haslid, Lincoln, CA; two grandsons; a brother, Byrus Haslid, Elgin; a sister, Goldie (Don) Gressman, Alamogordo, NM and special friend, Joe Matasovsky, Regent, ND. Everett was preceded in death by his parents, two half brothers, Harold and Jacob Reimann.
