Evelyn Thompson, age 92, of Reeder, ND, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger, ND.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Reeder, ND.  Pastor Deb Molbert will officiate with burial to follow in the Rosehill Cemetery at Reeder, ND.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday morning.

Evelyn Fern Hemmann was born September 20, 1931 to Martin Nicholas Hemmann and Emma Fredricka (Schenk) Hemmann.  She was the youngest of three daughters raised on the family farm her father homesteaded prior to 1920.  Evelyn was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reeder, ND.  She completed her elementary and high school education at the Reeder Public School graduating in 1949.  While in high school she was a four year player on the girls basketball team.

On August 4, 1952, Evelyn was united in marriage to Eugene "Tommy" Roland Thompson at the Zion Lutheran Church.  Several years later, they moved to her family's farmstead northeast of Reeder.  This union was blessed with two sons, Wayne and Clyde.

Evelyn was a active member in Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, participated in ladies aid, quilting and other church functions.

Evelyn was a hard working farmwife.  She was always busy helping with chores, field work, etc.  She enjoyed growing vegetables and fruits in the garden and then canning/freezing them.

Evelyn passed away at the Western Horizon's Care Center in Hettinger, ND on February 10, 2024.

Evelyn will be greatly missed by her sons, Wayne (Marianna) Thompson, Devils Lake, ND and Clyde (Carol) Thompson, Bismarck, ND, three grandsons, Chad (Margo) Thompson, Bismarck, Craig (Amanda) Thompson, Frederick, CO and Matthew (Olympia) Thompson, Eastover, NC and three great grandchildren, Kipton, Berkeley and Gabrielle as well as other extended family members.

Evelyn was met in heaven by her parents, her husband, Eugene and her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Elmer) Solseth and Delores (Wilbert) Wirth.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be given to the charity of their choice.  To help with thank you notes, please provide a return address.
