Obituary

Esther Zimmerle, age 85 of Klamath Falls, OR; formerly of Elgin, ND, passed away on February 26, 2012 at her home in Klamath Falls, OR.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. MT on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, ND. Pastor Bill Bradley will officiate with burial at the Prairie View Cemetery in Heil, ND.

Esther was born to Jacob and Christina (Zimbleman) Zimmerle on September 4, 1926 at Heil, North Dakota. She attended Heil grade school and Elgin Public High School. Upon graduation she acquired a teachers certificate and taught rural grade school south of Heil, North Dakota for a short period. She then moved to Portland, Oregon where she attended Multnomah School of the Bible College at Multnomah Falls, then Portland State University, both of these part time while employed full time at the Oregon State Health Department. Then on to full time school at Southern Oregon University at Ashland, Oregon where she graduated with a Masters Degree in education.

Her life long professional teaching career took her to Grants Pass and Glendale, Oregon, then on to Alaska where she taught schools at Fairbanks, Palmer, and Nome, These were exciting times as she communicated back to family and relatives, having to fly in to some of the school locations. Later Esther lived at Riverside and Modesto, California where she taught school until 1978 when she moved to Elgin, North Dakota to be with her Mother after the tornado which destroyed her Mother's home along with many others. She remained in Elgin working at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital until 1985, the time of her Mother's death. Esther then moved to Klammath Falls, Oregon where her sister Irma lived.

Esther remained in Klammath Falls until the time of her death. One thing her family will always remember about Esther is her frugality, however, she never, ever missed sending a birhtday card to each of us on our special day. most of the time unsigned so we could reuse them.

Esther was preceded in death by her entire family, father Jacob, mother Christina, sisters Emelie (Otto Frerking), Olinda (August Gomke), Irma (Marshall Wise), Agnes (Elmer Kirsch), and brother Milbert (Erna Kirsch) as well as 2 infant siblings.

She is survived by one brother-in-law, Elmer Kirsch as well as many nieces and nephews.
