Ernest S. Schulz, age 70, of New Leipzig, ND passed away at the Good Samaritan Society in Mott, ND on Monday, October 28, 2013.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 am MT at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Leipzig, ND. Pastor John Amundson will officiate with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 â?? 7:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2013 with a Family Service at 7:00 pm all at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, ND.

Ernest S. Schulz was born on August 13, 1943 to Solomon and Julia (Friesz) Schulz in Elgin, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Ernest attended school and graduated from New Leipzig Public School in 1962. He attended Dickinson State University for one year. He then took over the family farm which he operated until his retirement. During this time, he also served on the Grant County Soil Conservation District Board for 30 years. He enjoyed working the soil and devoted a lot of time and effort in the conservation of soil and water, planting trees, and encouraging others to do the same.

Ernest and Loretta Schock were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church on July 12, 1964. This union was blessed with a son, John.

Ernest entered the Good Samaritan Center in Mott in May of 2011.

Grateful for having shared in Ernest's life are his special friend, Loretta, New Leipzig, ND; his son, John, Fargo, ND; one sister, Viola (Allen) Hiebert, Ottawa, KS; and two nieces, Debra, MN; and Robin, CO.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, and one niece, Cora Lee Rokusek.
