She met Mike Lutz and they were united in marriage on July 21, 1936 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. They began their life together on a farm northwest of Mott. There they farmed and ranched together and raised their five children, Norita, Joyce, Beverly, Mary, and Charlie. Emmie and Mike milked cows and sold the milk at the creamery in Mott. Mike also drove school bus and on stormy days they would board the kids in their home until they could get to their home.
In 1958, Emmie and Mike moved into a home on Main Street in Mott. She worked at the Mott Drug Store for several years. At times she worked at the Holiday House and cleaned the Playhouse Theatre. She then started babysitting which she did for many years. Her husband passed away on December 7, 1969. Emmie continued to live in her own home until age 97. Due to health reasons, in September of 2013, she entered the Mott Good Samaritan Society. She always had a smile for everyone, she never complained, and had the patience of a saint. She passed from this life there early Sunday morning, November 29, 2015 at the age of 99 years, 3 months.
For 63 consecutive years, Emmie served Thanksgiving Dinner and Supper in her home. Over the many years of her life, she kept writing notes about her life which she published into a book along with pictures. One Christmas she surprised each family member with a copy for them to cherish.
