Mass of Christian burial for Ellguvene Meier, age 66, of Lemmon, will be 10:30am Tuesday, January 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon. Fr Brian Fawcett will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.


A rosary service will be held at 7:00pm on Monday evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon.

Special music will be provided by Rachael Mayer. Serving as casketbearers are Thomas Meier, Tyler Kostelecky, Jeff Greisch, Curt Williams, Tyrel Waagen, and Loran Thom. All Ellguvene's grandchildren and former students are considered honorary bearers.

ELLGUVENE S. MAYCHRZAK was born March 24, 1939, in Bowman, ND to Albert and Claudia (Kralicek) Maychrzak. She graduated from New England St. Mary's in May of 1957. She graduated from Dickinson State University in May of 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education.

Ellguvene was united in marriage to Paul Meier on January 31, 1959 at Scranton, ND. They made their home on a farm north of Lemmon where they raised their family.

Ellguvene worked at Five Counties Hospital and with the Nurse Corps before pursuing her degree. Upon graduation, she taught at Scranton for 14 years as a Secondary Science Teacher. She was a dedicated teacher who made learning interesting and fun.

Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She attended many of their activities and enjoyed their extended summer visits at the farm.

Her hobbies included gardening, needlework, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Ellguvene was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2001 and has been battling it since. She passed from this life on Friday evening, January 13, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck at the age of 66 years, 9 months, and 19 days.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Paul, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh and Joyce Meier, Morrill, NE; Steve and Alice Meier, Bismarck, ND; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sari and Rich Merriman, Aberdeen, SD; Wendy and Mark Crow, Rosemount, MN; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; her mother, Claudia Maychrzak, Scranton, ND; 5 sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Richard Greisch, Baldwin, ND; Elaine and Ashley Stanhope, Baker, MT; Edna and Ken Scalzone, Dillon, MT; Mary and Jerry Waagen, Culbertson, MT; Estelle and Greg Nagel, Circle, MT; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Elldean and Char Maychrzak, Scranton, ND; Edward and Nadine Maychrzak, Marysville, WA; Andy and Charlene Maychrzak, Scranton, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Maychrzak; and a son Kevin Meier.
