Eleanore (Gaab) Messmer was born September 12, 1935 in Richardton, ND.  She was the eldest child of Anton and Florence Gaab and grew up with her four sisters on the family farm southwest of Richardton.  She met a young man named Ralph Messmer, from Mott, at the Halfway Club where he was a pianist in a local band.  Apparently she liked the music and they were married October 13, 1954.  They made their first home east of Regent ND, lived a short time in Billings, MT and finally settled on the existing Messmer farmstead north of Mott upon the retirement of Ralph's father.

Her hard work and dedication to her family was infamous.  She was the "Dairy Boss" and ran her dairy barn like a well-oiled machine.  She knew every cow and their disposition with just one look at a leg or udder!  She worked tirelessly side-by-side with Ralph and her children farming, milking, ranching and gardening.  She was known far and wide as an excellent cook and baker and many cowboys from the area will testify to her fantastic meals after working cattle.  Her specialties were definitely a full cookie jar, poppy seed rolls and fantastic caramel rolls along with a choice of 3 or 4 pies on a given day.

Blessed to have the honor to call her "Mom" are her eight children; Kellen (Missy), Mott, Michele (Curtis) Wax, Regent, Rhonda (Glenn) Axtman, Fargo, Melanie (Lynn) Miller, Mott, Patricia (Kevin) Roth, Mott, Lisa (special friend Dennis Fliehs) Janes, Cogswell, Todd (Lisa Jo), Mott, Jody (Stephanie), Mott.  She is also survived by 20 special grandchildren,  Shawn & Shannon (Jaylee) Messmer, Regan and Riley Riedlinger, Haylee (Brian Neurohr) Wax, Eric (Julie), Dominic (Kadie), Shelby, Dalton Miller, Chelsey (Carter Tostenrud), Alexis Roth (Austin Int Veldt), Chance Roth, Amber (Emerson) Marsh, Nathan and Brett Messmer, Ellie, Katarina, Jorja, Zach and Quinn Messmer;  nine great grandchildren,  Griffen, Maddix, Jaxson, Lydia Easton, Grayson, Tate, Madison and Hayes; three sisters,  Betty (Leo) Aman, Richardton, Charlotte (Herb) Martin, Mandan, and Eileen Messer, Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, an infant son, grandson John Wax, her parents, one sister and brother-in-law Dorothy (George) Barth, and brother-in-law Norman Messer.  Special thank you to Mari Stelter.
