Obituary

Service of Remembrance for Edna Mahugh, 88, of Killdeer, ND, will be Monday, January 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hilltop Home of Comfort at 95 Hilltop Drive in Killdeer. Private burial will follow at a later date. Rev. Aanen Gjovik, of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate.

Edna Mae Mahugh was born June 13, 1918 in Berthhold, N.D to Jess and Mae (Early) Mahugh. On January 14, 2007 she fell asleep in Jesus after a short illness and hospitalization at St Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson, N.D.

She lived in Berthhold, N.D. with her family until Edna was admitted to Grafton State School on September 28, 1932. She moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott, ND in June 1971. In 1985, the Nursing Center discontinued their Basic Care Program and Edna then moved to Adult Foster Care services through the county and Day Activity program with Able Inc. in Dickinson. She also attended Camp Re-Creation several summers while living in Dickinson. She enjoyed this camp where she met and made several friends. She then moved to Hilltop Home of Comfort on Dec 14, 1990, which has been her home for the past 16 years, where she received professional and loving care. Edna dearly loved her stuffed animal collection and enjoyed writing letters to her many friends. She had a strong faith, and she loved to tell everyone she knew, "God bless you, have a good day and I love you."

She is survived by her brother, Robert Mahugh, of Elma, WA and her cousin, Doris Matson, Yakima, WA, who are thankful to have had her as part of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Mae Early Mahugh, sisters: Hester, Ellen, and Jane; brothers: Chester, Walter and Harold.
