EDNA HEYNE was born August 26, 1924 on the family farm north of Elgin, ND to John and Minnie (Heinle) Heyne. She was a life-long active member of Zion Lutheran Church, the church where her father and grandfather, Ephriam Heyne, were charter members.

Following her graduation from Elgin High School, Edna and her sister-in-law, wrote teachers exams which qualified her for a rural teaching certificate. She taught south of Elgin for two terms.

In September of 1944, she started working at Roth's Meat Market. What was supposed to be a temporary job turned permanent and Edna spent 49 years in the grocery business. She never considered her work tedious or boring, and often spoke of the fun she had. Edna enjoyed working for Roth's and considered them her extended family.

Edna spent her spare time gardening, doing crafts, quilting, cooking, and traveling when able. She lived in her childhood home from 1932 to 2014. She shared this same home with her mother until her passing. When Edna's health started to fail she moved to Dakota Hills and then to Jacobson Memorial Care Center in July of 2015.

Edna is survived by her sister, Tillie Friesz, Ft. Collins, CO; nieces, Dorothy (Wayne) Bondurant, Ft. Collins, CO; Doris (Don) Lange, Coleville, WA; Teddy Fink, Enderlin, ND; Carla (Ron) Kaaz, Aberdeen, SD; Joni (Jim) Rowe, Cranford, NJ; nephews, Fred (Chris) Friesz, Polson, MT; August (Cindy) Heyne, Custer, SD; several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Heyne, her sister Martha Horst, and her brother Herbert Heyne.
