DOROTHY MAE BONOGOFSKY was born March 12, 1930, near Bisbane, ND to Mathias and Katherine (Kraft) Bonogofsky. She was raised and educated in Brisbane along with her 11 brothers and sisters.
Dorothy married Bill Woodbury on April 10, 1948 in New Leipzig, ND. Together they farmed and ranched 18 miles south of Carson, ND, along the Cannonball River. It was here they raised their children, Lloyd, Lorin, Russell and Eileen.
Dorothy's pride and joy were her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She would let the kids jump on the furniture and make all the noise they wanted banging on the piano. She loved holding the new babies, playing with the little kids, and keeping up with the older kids. She had a bright smile and a wonderful laugh that we will not soon forget.
Dot thrived on playing cards with family and friends. She enjoyed baking buns, kuchen, cookies, and also an angel food cake for the birthdays. She always had something for you to eat.
Grandma Dot was such a generous woman. You never left Grandma's without something, whether it be kuchen, cookies, maybe a second hand coat, or a pair of jeans. Grandma loved shopping thrift stores and garage sales. How did she always know our sizes? She was most generous with her love and had so much she couldn't give it all away.
Blessed to have shared in her life are her children, Lloyd and Joan Woodbury, Morristown, SD; Lorin and Sandy Woodbury, Russell and Colette Woodbury, and Chick and Mark Koenig, all of Carson, ND. Forever missing her are her 15 grandchildren, Jessie, Nicole, Walt, Wade, Shawn, Cassie, Tyler, Heather, Allison, Kyle, Spence, Holly, Laci, Timbere, and Jake. Grandma Dot also leaves 35 beautiful great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. Also surviving Dorothy are her sisters, Mary Wells, Fargo, ND; Josephine Emter, Glen Ullin, ND; Margaret Emch, Dickinson, ND; Bernice Zimmerman, Stanwood, WA; brother, Dave Bonogofsky, Bismarck; numerous nieces and nephews; and former son-in-law Mark Koenig, Carson, ND.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Bill; daughter, Eileen Koenig; grandchildren Matthew Koenig and Hope Woodbury; siblings, Frank, Jake, Jim, Aggie, Anne, and Goppy.
