Dorothy  Ann (Kari) Seidel, lifelong Perkins County resident passed away on September 3, 2023 at the Five Counties Nursing Home.  Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff for their kind, compassionate care while she lived there.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison.

The Rosary Service will be at 7:00PM on Friday evening at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

At 95 years old, her life will be celebrated as her family and friends remember her for her fun-loving spirit.  Dorothy loved a good card game, bowling, board game with her grandkids, and especially to dance!

Dorothy was born to John and Lilly (Davidson) Kari on May 2, 1928. She joined her three older siblings, Pete, Ernest, and Mary Helen at the ranch south of Bison.  She attended grade school at Brushy School, graduated Bison High School with the class of 1946, and attended the National College of Business in Rapid City.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Cliff Seidel at St. James Church in Drew, SD on January 26, 1948. To this union three sons were born, Ronald, Robert and Richard. They spent a few months running the Bixby Store in anticipation of the Federal Dam being planned at Bixby. When the dam project was changed to be built at Shadehill, SD, they returned to the farm east of Bison, SD and raised their family.  Dorothy embraced the farm life and enjoyed running the tractor for summer fallowing.

When they retired in 1986, they moved into Bison. They enjoyed taking many bus trips and later traveled a great deal in their small RV. One of the most memorable trips was when they motored to Alaska with Henry and Ava Hoff in their motor-home.

Dorothy dedicated 28 years of service dispatching for the Bison Ambulance Service.  She volunteered her time as church secretary and sacristan for Blessed Sacrament for many years.  She also kept books for various bowling leagues, and enjoyed playing her organ and singing.  She spent countless hours taking care of her grandkids and great-grandkids, always with something fun to entertain them and something tasty to eat.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons and daughters-in-law; Ron (Nancy), Robert (Marilyn), and Richard (Billi), eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters.  She will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and two sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; her parents, and three siblings.
