Dorothy C. Davison, age 93 of Hettinger, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Western Horizons Care Center with her Son by her side.

Dorothy Claire Fitch was born on March 13, 1927 to Tracy and Jettie (Collicot) Fitch in Hettinger, North Dakota, twenty minutes before her twin brother Bobby.    He always teased her that she was so much older than him.    She attended Hettinger Public School and graduated in 1945.  She went on to Valley City State Teachers College and achieved her two-year teaching certificate.   She kept in touch with her college roommates for many years via a "Round Robin" letter exchange.

On June 5, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Gene Davison.   They were married 66 years until his passing in 2013.    To this union, a son and two daughters were born.     They lived in the country where they farmed and ranched until 1983 when they moved to Hettinger.

Dorothy had many neighborhood friends that went back and forth for coffee.   She was an avid card player and belonged to several different groups throughout the years.  She belonged to Eastern Star and PEO club.   She traveled with Gene often when he worked for Farm Bureau and while he served on the ND Vocational Education Board.  With these travels they met many people who became lifelong friends.

In September of 2019, Dorothy made the decision to move to Western Horizons Assisted Living Center.   The hardest part of that decision was leaving her home and her neighbors and not being able to see "My girls" (as she called the Ranum girls) as often as she wanted to.    She had a safe home at Assisted living and was well taken care of.     In April of 2020, she needed more care and was moved to Western Horizons Care Center.

She is survived by her son John of Hettinger, his son Steven of Beulah, and daughter Diane and Terry  Babb of West Fargo, ND, and their children, Ben Pearson, West Fargo, Bryan and Melissa Pearson, Ames, Iowa and their children, Addie, Cayden, Evie and Damari, Terry and Kori Babb, and their girls Lauren and Kati of Hawthorn Woods, IL, Shari & Matt Steele and their boys Mitchell and Aaron from St. Croix Falls, WI, Ryan Babb (Paige) Fargo, ND, and Lindsay and Chris Paulson and their son Abel, Fargo, ND;    Our faithful  family friend Shirley Smolnikar,  niece Janie Fitch Danielson (Tom) and nephew Scott Fitch (LeAnn), Drs. Josh and Carrie Ranum, Rebecca, Rachel, Julia, and Cheri who brought so much joy to her last few years  and were so very special to her.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Gene, a daughter Kathleen in infancy, her Twin Brother Robert Fitch, and her cousin Virginia Walby.

A graveside service for friends and relatives will be held at 1:00pm MT, Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the Hettinger Cemetery with Pastor Duane Coates, officiating.
