Doris Hildestad, age 90, longtime Western Horizons Care Center resident passed away on Monday morning, October 29, 2018 at the Care Center in Hettinger, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in the west wing of the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger, ND.  Pastor Kathleen Dettmann will officiate with burial in the Wolf Butte Cemetery north of Bucyrus, ND.

Doris Hildestad was born August 25, 1928, in Reeder, North Dakota to Tollof and Emma Halvorson Hildestad.  She had 3 brothers who are all deceased.

Doris spent 5 terms in the first grade at age seven and could not learn to read or write.  She lived with her mother until her death, then with her brother for some time.  She moved into Western Horizons Care Center in 1969, she was one of the first residents when it opened.

Even though all of Doris' biological family is deceased, Doris always called the staff at the nursing home family.  She had a name for each and every one of them, whether it was momma, sister or cousin.

Doris loved Bingo, coloring, bead work, and especially eating.  She used to love to go down to the local café and have pizza.  She also loved to dress up, wearing rings on all fingers, a watch and bracelets, earrings, and make-up.  Doris was loved by everyone that knew her, and she will be missed.  The ones who didn't know Doris? Well, that will be their loss.  Sweet Dreams 'til we meet again. :)
