Dora graduated from McIntosh High School in 1948. She worked for the Morristown State Bank for a few years and then attended business school in Rapid City, earning an Associate's Degree. She worked as a legal secretary for Jackson and Krause Attorneys in Lemmon, SD until 1957. Dora then attended Mount Marty College and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English. She then moved to Washington DC and attended the Catholic University. She graduated in 1963 with a Master's Degree in Library Science.
Dora moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked in the Law Library at the University of Minnesota. In the fall of 1969 she accepted a position at Black Hills State College (now Black Hills State University) where she taught library science. Century by the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates. In 1974 she received many accolades for re-discovering ancient tablets dating back to 3500BC which had been misplaced and forgotten in the BHSC archives.
In February 2016, Dora moved to Faulkton, SD where she resided at the Faulkton Senior Living. She enjoyed the visits of her great nieces and nephew, Taylor, Teralyn, Trisha and Garrett Cramer.
