Donna Mae Laufer, 87 of Regent, ND passed away peacefully at the Richardton Health Care Center in Richardton, ND on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott, ND at 2:00 p.m. MT.  Fr. Chris Kadrmas will officiate.  Donna's ashes will be buried at a later date at the Hettinger Cemetery in Hettinger, ND.

Donna Mae Laufer was born on October 5, 1935 to Charles and Susie (Finke) Banning in Hettinger, North Dakota.  She was an only child was raised and went to school in Hettinger, North Dakota.

On June 3, 1960 Donna married Norman Laufer in Hettinger, North Dakota. They raised their family of five children 17 miles southwest of Mott on the family farm.  She enjoyed working on the farm, taking care of her garden and flowers, and sewing many clothes for her kids.  Donna worked in Hettinger at various jobs through the years, including Ednas dress shop, the Townshop, and Jerrys Furniture.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, doing many crafts and adventures with them.  She also enjoyed having coffee and conversation with her neighbors.

Donna Mae Laufer passed away at the Richardton Health Center, in Richardton, ND.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her  children, Penny Kane, Fairburn SD, Terry (Donna) Laufer, Mott ND, Tammy (Dan) Markegard, Swan Valley ID, Jackie (Tyler) Austin, Regent ND,  and Lisa (Todd) Messmer, Mott ND; grandchildren, Nicole (Dustin) Martin, Howard Keoke, Jennifer (Garret) Swindler, Devan Laufer,  Joshua (Lindsey) Markegard, Travis (Megan) Markegard, Mandy (Tyler) Green, Samantha (Jaden) Moser, Lindsey (Chris) Zimmerman, Amber (Emerson) Marsh, Nate Messmer and Brett Messmer; great grandchildren, Nevada and Pheonix Martin, Dante and Kayleigh Keoke, William and Ashlynn Swindler, Grayson and Tucker Markegard, Mia, Kallie, Dalton, Hazel and Logan Markegard, Rylee and Kaycee Green, Austin Moser, Carlten and Camden Zimmerman, Griffen Hoheisel, Madison and Briggs Marsh and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Susie Banning, husband Norman Laufer, son Terry Laufer, and grandson Howard Keoke.
