Donald C. Landis, age 59 of Meadow, was called home by his Heavenly Father on October 27, 2015 near Meadow, SD.

The funeral service for Donald will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon. Branch President Marshal will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.

Serving as casketbearers are Dennis, Dylan, and Wayne Kling, RJ Schiley, Levi Overacker, and Tom Brockel.

Don was baptized and blessed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Don was the son of Donald S. Volk and Connie J. Schiley. He was born on September 28, 1956 in Ft. Ruckie, Alabama. He graduated from Lemmon High School in 1975.

Don was united in marriage to Sandy Carroll and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters. Becky was taken back to heaven shortly after her arrival and they then were blessed with daughter Erin. Don lived some time in Nevada and then moved to Idaho where he spent many years. In 2007, he moved back to South Dakota to be closer to his mother Constance (Connie). After her passing, he worked different jobs until he found a job he enjoyed working on his brothers ranch.

Don loved being around his family and enjoyed his nieces and nephews, teasing them all. He would take time to go visit his 98 year old grandmother Mae in Mobridge. They both spent hours reminiscing about the years growing up in Lemmon. Those are times they both treasured.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. All those that knew him and got to spend those special moments and times will greatly miss him.

Don leaves behind in physical being but not in memory are his daughter, Erin Landis, Carson, NV; sisters, Tina (Charles) Bradley Rapid City, SD; Yvonne (Joe) Malley, Cataldo, ID; Lea (Dennis) Kling, Keldron, SD; brothers, RJ (Karin) Schiley, Meadow, SD; Buck (Abbey) Schiley, Rapid City, SD; Donovon (Amy) Volk, Clatskanie, OR; grandmother, Mae Schliesman, Mobridge, SD; step-father, Bob Schiley, Meadow, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Landis, mother, Constance Schiley, father, Donald Volk, grandparents, Tony and Elsie Volk, Jess Sims, and Paul Schliesman, and several aunts, uncles, and a cousin.

Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
